Why this works

Saving a charging Alchemist with Cold Embrace seems like an obvious play, but it’s a double-edged sword. The physical immunity is a lifesaver against right-click damage, and the combined healing from the spell and his own Chemical Rage can bring him back from the brink very quickly. However, it also prevents Alchemist from attacking, taking your main damage dealer out of the fight for a few crucial seconds. This pause can give enemies the time they need to reposition or turn on a different target, turning a potential save into a momentum stall.

Across a game, this pairing relies on Winter Wyvern making the right call. A well-timed Cold Embrace can bait the enemy team into overcommitting on Alchemist, only for him to emerge at full health. A poorly timed one can cost you a teamfight. Beyond the save, Winter's Curse is useful for holding enemies in place to guarantee a full-duration Unstable Concoction or to keep them sitting in Acid Spray. This provides some control, but the core dynamic still hinges on that risky, fight-pausing save, making their overall performance together fairly neutral.
