Why this works

Putting these two heroes on a team creates a conflict in game plan and timing. Anti-Mage wants to avoid fights, farm quietly, and split-push for a long time. Dark Willow, on the other hand, excels at early aggression and creating kills with her spells. Her primary setup, Cursed Crown, has a delay before the stun activates. This is often awkward for Anti-Mage, who relies on his instant mobility with Blink to jump in and out of skirmishes. He can't easily wait for the stun to land without exposing himself.

This core difference in strategy means Anti-Mage is frequently farming alone while Dark Willow is looking for fights with the rest of her team, who may feel like they're playing at a disadvantage. Her control from Bramble Maze and Terrorize can be useful for peel or disengage, giving him space. However, during the mid-game, his team often lacks the physical damage to capitalize on her setups. For the duo to succeed, one of them has to play against their natural timing, which makes their path to victory less straightforward.
