Anti-Mage + Death Prophet

Why this works

Facing this draft, the enemy team often feels they can pick their battles. The core issue is a clash of timings. Death Prophet wants to group up with the team and push down objectives the moment Exorcism is ready, creating pressure in the mid-game. Anti-Mage, however, has a completely different plan. He needs to avoid early teamfights, find safe farm across the map, and build the items that let him take over the lategame. These two strategies pull the team in opposite directions, making it difficult to present a unified threat.

This tension forces the team into a difficult choice. If they group with Death Prophet, they're fighting a man down while Anti-Mage farms. If they play passively to protect him, they waste DP's most powerful timing window. The enemy can exploit this by either picking off the isolated Anti-Mage or forcing a fight against the weaker four-man group. While a long silence from Death Prophet is certainly useful for a farmed Anti-Mage later on, the game is often decided before these two heroes get a chance to operate on the same page.
