Anti-Mage + Omniknight

Why this works

Trying to lock down and burst an Anti-Mage is frustrating enough, but it becomes a real headache when an Omniknight is on his team. A well-timed Heavenly Grace can purge off the silences and slows that are meant to hold Anti-Mage in place, while Guardian Angel makes him completely immune to physical damage. For a hero who is naturally weak to being controlled and chain-stunned, these defensive buffs seem ideal. They cover his main weaknesses and should let him play much more aggressively than he normally could.

The problem is that their playstyles rarely overlap. Anti-Mage wants to play a solo game, using Blink to farm the most dangerous parts of the map and split-push lanes. Omniknight is a slow, defensive hero who needs to be near his allies to have an impact. He simply can't keep up with Anti-Mage's mobility. While Omniknight can save him in a teamfight, Anti-Mage's goal is often to avoid those fights entirely until he has a massive item lead. This leaves Omniknight protecting other, less critical heroes, making the powerful synergy often feel theoretical.
