Why this works

Running two slippery melee carries like this puts the enemy on the back foot. Riki creates constant pressure from the early game, forcing supports to buy detection and play defensively. This chaos across the map is exactly what Anti-Mage needs to secure his own farm and hit his item timings without interference. When they do work together, Riki's Smoke Screen provides a perfect setup. A target silenced and slowed inside the cloud is an easy victim for Anti-Mage to Blink on, burn their mana pool dry with Mana Break, and secure a kill.

The game plan is to stretch the enemy team thin. Riki's scouting and pick-off threat makes it dangerous for enemy heroes to move around the map alone, while Anti-Mage leverages the space to split-push and accelerate his farm. The enemy is forced to either group up and lose map control, or spread out and risk getting caught. This dynamic can fall apart if both heroes have a bad start, as the draft lacks a durable frontline and traditional teamfight control. If the enemy can force fights before Anti-Mage is ready, the pair has a much harder time.
