Anti-Mage + Skywrath Mage

Why this works

Picking a lane dominator for a carry who wants to avoid fighting creates a strange dynamic. Skywrath Mage's whole plan is to use his powerful magic nukes and Ancient Seal to secure kills early on. He needs active teammates who can follow up on his aggression. Anti-Mage, on the other hand, offers very little kill threat in the early game. He wants a quiet lane to secure farm for his core items. While Skywrath's silence is useful for setting up a kill, Anti-Mage's early physical damage is rarely enough to finish the job, and the magic amplification from the seal doesn't benefit him much.

This often means the two heroes have to play separate games. Skywrath Mage might go pressure another lane, leaving Anti-Mage to fend for himself. The real problem arises in the mid-game when enemies group up. Anti-Mage usually isn't ready to teamfight, and Skywrath lacks the wave clear or defensive tools to stop a coordinated push on his own. The success of this duo depends on surviving a difficult mid-game until Anti-Mage is farmed enough to carry, but they don't do much to help each other get there.
