Axe + Earth Spirit

Why this works

Getting caught out of position feels extra punishing. Earth Spirit’s ability to stun or reposition enemies makes it much easier for Axe to land a clean Berserker's Call on one or two heroes. A Rolling Boulder stun can be the perfect opening for Axe to blink in and lock down a target, guaranteeing spins from Counter Helix. This chain of control can secure kills in the early and mid-game that might otherwise be difficult to find, as it removes the opponent's chance to react before the taunt lands. It provides a reliable setup for an otherwise predictable initiation.

This pairing works best when playing from ahead, roaming the map and looking for picks. The combination is not foolproof, however. Both Axe and Earth Spirit need to get in close, which makes them vulnerable to being kited or separated by clever positioning. If the initial stun from Earth Spirit is dodged or Axe is disabled before he can use his Call, the gank often fails. Enemies will learn to use vision and save items to split the pair up, knowing that if the initial burst of control doesn't connect, the threat is much lower.
