How Bane and Skywrath Mage perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Bane and Skywrath Mage win 49.04% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 11,788 matches.
Controlling the map can feel difficult with this pair, even after a successful kill. The combo is straightforward: Bane locks a target down with Fiend's Grip, allowing Skywrath Mage to land a full Mystic Flare for an almost guaranteed elimination. The problem is that this often requires both heroes' ultimates to secure a single kill. While effective, it leaves the rest of their team to handle the remaining enemies with two key spells on cooldown. This duo also provides very little ability to push out lanes or damage towers, making it hard to convert pickoffs into meaningful objectives. The game can stall out as you win kills but lose ground across the map.

These rows use the last 30 days of quality-filtered ranked matches, all patches in that span combined — a wider window than the patch-scoped count above, so the per-rank match totals can exceed it.
