Batrider + Rubick

Why this works

Setting up a kill with this pair often feels a bit redundant. Rubick can use Telekinesis to hold a target for Batrider's Flaming Lasso, but Batrider is usually good at catching people on his own. The real hope is for Rubick to steal a powerful spell off the hero Batrider drags in, turning a key enemy ability against them. The problem is that this is entirely dependent on the enemy draft and what spell they happen to use last. More often than not, Rubick is left with a fairly average spell, offering little more than what another support could bring to the gank.

During the laning phase, they offer very little pressure and can be bullied by stronger duos. Later on, both heroes are fragile and need good positioning to have an impact. While a successful Lasso is a strong initiation, the follow-up relies heavily on the rest of the team. If the enemy groups up, the single-target focus of Batrider and the situational nature of Rubick can leave your team feeling underpowered in a full five-on-five engagement. It requires a lot of coordination for a result that isn't always better than a simpler combo.
