Why this works

Setting up for Supernova with Primal Roar seems like a free kill, but it's less reliable than it looks. The knockback from Beastmaster's ultimate often shoves the primary target away from the spot where Phoenix wants to land. This can scatter the enemy team and make the egg easier for them to focus down. While the stun is long, the positioning is often wrong. The real value comes from the chaos after the fact. Beastmaster's summons create a messy frontline that can body-block for the egg, giving Phoenix a better chance to get the reset off even if the initial setup is spoiled.

The core tension here is that these two heroes want to play different styles of Dota. Beastmaster is focused on taking objectives and creating pressure across the map with his controlled units. Phoenix, on the other hand, lives for the big five-on-five teamfight where Supernova and Sun Ray can turn the tide. Games are often decided by which hero gets to dictate the tempo. If Phoenix can force fights around Beastmaster's push, they can find success. If Beastmaster is off on his own while the team is trying to group, both heroes end up looking weak.
