Beastmaster + Venomancer

Why this works

Setting up a kill with Primal Roar often feels awkward with this pairing. Beastmaster provides the perfect lockdown, but Venomancer’s follow-up is entirely damage over time and slows. There’s no immediate burst to secure the kill during the stun, allowing tankier heroes to survive and supports to get saves off. This fundamental clash extends to their kits; Beastmaster wants his team to hit fast with physical attacks buffed by Inner Beast, while Venomancer contributes almost exclusively with magic damage spells that don't benefit from the aura at all.

Across the game, this means you can generate a lot of map pressure but struggle to close things out. Pushing lanes with a mix of Boars and Plague Wards is effective for chipping at towers. When a real teamfight breaks out, though, the weakness becomes obvious. The duo can slow the entire enemy team and apply widespread poison, but they can't bring down a single important target quickly enough. This allows the enemy to ignore the gradual damage, walk past the summons, and focus down your own primary core to win the engagement.
