Why this works

Facing both these heroes on the same team presents a strange puzzle. One core, Bristleback, wants to run at you nonstop, forcing rotations and soaking spells while covering everything in quills. The other, Medusa, prefers to stand her ground, using Split Shot to hit the whole enemy team from a safe distance. Their preferred fighting styles are fundamentally opposed. Bristleback creates chaos by diving deep, often moving far away from the static, defensive position Medusa needs to be effective with Mana Shield and Stone Gaze.

This draft often feels like it's playing two different games at once. Both Bristleback and Medusa are resource-intensive heroes, meaning they can end up competing for farm and delaying the team's overall power spike. Success depends on the opponent being forced to deal with Bristleback's aggression, which in turn can give Medusa the space she needs. However, a coordinated team can often ignore the frontline nuisance, kite him, and instead focus on bursting down the less mobile Medusa before she can have an impact on the fight.
