Why this works

Using Winter's Curse near Bristleback creates a mixed opportunity. The secondary effect forces enemies to group up and attack a single target, which can let Bristleback land Quill Sprays on several heroes at once. However, he cannot damage the main cursed target himself, making it a poor tool for securing a specific kill. A similar problem exists with Cold Embrace. While the ability can save a low-health Bristleback from physical damage, it also prevents him from attacking or casting spells, stalling his momentum from Warpath stacks and stopping his damage output completely.

In practice, the two heroes often operate on slightly different timings. Winter Wyvern provides slows and a potential save, which helps Bristleback stay in the fight longer. The game plan is for him to run in and draw attention while she controls from the backline. But since Winter Wyvern's ultimate protects her target from Bristleback's damage, and her save disarms him, their most powerful spells can actively work against each other.
