Why this works

Getting trapped inside Arena of Blood with Mars often forces a simple decision: turn and kill the squishiest target. For Crystal Maiden to land a good Freezing Field, she has to be relatively close to the arena, which puts her in easy reach of the enemies Mars has trapped. While Mars can keep them busy, he can't stop multiple heroes from immediately switching focus to interrupt the channeling support. Instead of creating a kill zone for his team, Mars inadvertently creates a perfect opportunity for the enemy to pick off a high-value, vulnerable target.

This problem defines how teamfights play out. The ideal combo of trapping enemies for a full Freezing Field is rare. More often, Crystal Maiden either has to hold her ultimate or risk instant death by casting it. The enemy team knows this and will save a stun or gap-closer for her. This forces the duo into a difficult spot where Mars wants to start an aggressive brawl, but the fight he creates is one that his own teammate struggles to safely contribute her most powerful spell to, leading to disconnected and ineffective engagements.
