Why this works

Layering Witch Doctor’s Maledict with Dazzle’s own damage-over-time spells can secure kills that would otherwise get away. Their real potential, however, is defensive. A well-timed Shallow Grave allows Witch Doctor to channel a full Death Ward without being immediately focused and killed. This turns a high-risk ultimate into a much more reliable teamfight weapon. The main challenge is that both heroes are prime targets themselves. They are fragile and lack escape, so if they get initiated on first, their plan can fall apart before it even begins.

During the laning stage, this pair will look for opportunities to combine their spells for an early kill, but their true impact comes in mid-game teamfights. Success for Dazzle and Witch Doctor hinges on finding the perfect moment to commit their big spells. The enemy team knows this and will be looking to either stun Witch Doctor through his channel or force out Shallow Grave on a less important target. The fight often comes down to which side executes their plan better, making the outcome feel quite dependent on positioning and timing.
