Doom + Riki

Why this works

Picking one hero to delete from a fight can feel redundant with these two. Doom wants to land his ultimate on a key target to disable them for a long duration, while Riki wants to use Smoke Screen to isolate and burst down a support. While they can focus the same hero, their methods don't really stack. The silence from Smoke Screen doesn't add much if the target is already Doomed. They are both single-target specialists who largely operate independently of one another, lacking a natural setup or follow-up that amplifies the other's kit.

The success of this pairing comes down to coordination, not hero design. A good Riki might scout ahead, allowing Doom to find the perfect ultimate target before a fight. A good Doom can be the durable front line that draws attention, giving Riki free reign on the back line. However, they can easily end up playing separate games, hunting different targets and leaving the team feeling disjointed. It forces a choice: are they working together to secure one kill, or are they splitting up to try and get two? This inconsistency makes the partnership feel like a toss-up.
