Drow Ranger + Invoker

Why this works

Getting caught out by this pair can be a real headache. Invoker has a whole arsenal of spells to hold someone in place, whether it's a Tornado into other setup or a simple Cold Snap. With Drow Ranger attacking, Cold Snap can keep an enemy locked down for a long time, unable to retaliate or escape the constant Frost Arrow slows. Even an Ice Wall or a well-placed Deafening Blast is often enough of an opening for Drow to unload a huge amount of physical damage from a safe distance, securing a kill before the target can even react.

The success of this duo hinges on positioning and enemy drafts. Both Invoker and Drow Ranger are fragile and dislike being jumped on by multiple heroes. If the enemy can close the distance and split their focus, the combination loses its power quickly. The game often becomes about whether Invoker can land the key spells to control the fight and create space. When he does, Drow can clean up. When he doesn't, or if he's the one getting initiated on, both heroes tend to fall without accomplishing much.
