Drow Ranger + Phantom Lancer

Why this works

A core part of Drow Ranger's value comes from her Marksmanship aura, which gives a significant boost to allied ranged heroes. Since Phantom Lancer is a melee hero, he gets no benefit from this ability. This creates a composition where one of the team's main damage dealers is missing out on a major steroid that Drow provides. While her Frost Arrows can help Phantom Lancer stick to targets, the lack of synergy with her ultimate means a key component of her kit isn't being fully leveraged by one of her cores.

This dynamic can lead to a slightly disjointed game plan. Both Drow Ranger and Phantom Lancer are farm-hungry heroes, and they may end up competing for safe areas of the map to accelerate their item progression. In fights, Drow prefers to hit from a safe distance while Phantom Lancer needs to dive into the enemy team to create illusion chaos. Their objectives aren't directly opposed, but they don't naturally support each other's ideal positioning, forcing the team to play around two separate focal points rather than one unified threat.
