Drow Ranger + Winter Wyvern

Why this works

Setting up a big teamfight with Winter's Curse seems like a great plan for Drow Ranger, but it has a catch. The main target of the ultimate is immune to Drow's damage, which prevents her from bursting down the most important enemy. Instead, she can only attack the other heroes who are forced to hit their ally. This is still free damage on enemies who are distracted and grouped up, making them good targets for her arrows. The situation is rarely as clean as it looks, though, since the highest-value target is often the one taking no damage from her.

This dynamic creates an awkward choice in fights. Winter Wyvern locks down a priority hero, but Drow Ranger has to decide whether to wait for the spell to end or switch her fire to less important enemies nearby. Often, the best play is to use her area slows and damage to hit the taunted enemies, cleaning them up after they are weakened. This disrupts the simple plan of having Drow stand in the back and eliminate one hero at a time. While the two can still win fights, their core abilities don't always align on the same target.
