How Earth Spirit and Marci perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Earth Spirit and Marci win 47.21% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 7,001 matches.
Pairing these two seems like it should create a perfect lockdown chain, but it often falls apart in practice. Earth Spirit wants to kick or pull a target for his team to hit, while Marci wants to run in and throw someone herself. The problem is they are both trying to do the same job of single-target initiation. This can lead to awkward moments where one hero's displacement ruins the setup for the other, or they both jump the same hero, which is often overkill. Because both heroes rely on their teammates for the actual damage, having two of them on the field can leave the lineup feeling short on real threats, making it harder to close out the kills they set up.

These rows use the last 30 days of quality-filtered ranked matches, all patches in that span combined — a wider window than the patch-scoped count above, so the per-rank match totals can exceed it.
