How Earth Spirit and Techies perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Earth Spirit and Techies win 49.35% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 21,662 matches.
Forcing an enemy hero into a mine stack is the core of this pairing. Earth Spirit provides one of the most reliable ways to do this with Boulder Smash, kicking a target exactly where Techies needs them to go. This turns defensive area denial into an offensive kill tool. A well-timed kick on a stunned or slowed target often means a guaranteed kill before the enemy can react. It's a simple but effective way to control the early and mid-game by punishing anyone who steps slightly out of position.
Beyond that specific combo, these two create a lot of pressure with mobile ganks. Earth Spirit can roll in to start a fight, and a follow-up Blast Off! from Techies adds a large amount of magic damage and a crucial silence. This pairing is heavily reliant on coordination and can become predictable, however. Smart opponents will buy early detection to avoid mine traps and prioritize magic immunity to survive the initial burst. This forces the duo to secure an early lead before key items come out, which explains why their overall advantage feels present but not overwhelming.
