Earthshaker + Lich

Why this works

Thinking about these two heroes together brings big teamfight ultimates to mind, but the setup can be more awkward than it seems. While a huge Echo Slam is a perfect start for Lich's Chain Frost, getting to that point is the real challenge. Earthshaker's other main setup tool, Fissure, can actually be counter-productive, creating a wall that blocks the Chain Frost from bouncing between enemies. The dream scenario requires Earthshaker to get a clean jump on multiple heroes, which isn't always possible. Lich’s Frost Shield does help Earthshaker survive going in, but their core spells don't always align cleanly for a simple, repeatable combo.

The laning phase can actually be the strongest point for this duo. A well-placed Fissure that traps an opponent makes them an easy target for Lich's slows and damage. As the game transitions into teamfights, however, everything rides on a single moment of execution. The enemy team's goal will be to spread out, making it hard to land a multi-hero Echo Slam and neutering Chain Frost's bounce potential. If Earthshaker can't find that perfect initiation, their combined impact falls off quite a bit, making the pairing feel inconsistent from one fight to the next.
