Earthshaker + Medusa

Why this works

Fighting into a late-game Medusa often means trying to burst her down before she can turn the fight. Earthshaker makes that plan much harder to execute. When the enemy team commits on her, he can counter-initiate, using Fissure and his other spells to lock everyone down. This creates the perfect scenario for Medusa: a static, clumped-up fight where her Split Shot hits everyone and no one can get away. It also buys her a clean window to activate Stone Gaze without being immediately disabled, forcing the enemy to either turn away or become petrified.

This pairing really only comes together in mid-to-late game teamfights. Before that, Medusa is focused on farming and Earthshaker is looking for opportunities elsewhere on the map. The success of the combination depends entirely on Earthshaker finding a good setup. If the enemy team can play spread out, avoid grouping up, or manage to pick off Earthshaker before a fight begins, Medusa is left without her best peel and control. This makes the outcome very dependent on which team dictates the engagement.
