Earthshaker + Rubick

Why this works

Setting up a gank with this pair can feel very deliberate. A long-range Fissure can lead directly into a Telekinesis, holding a target in place for an extended duration. Both Earthshaker and Rubick provide strong, instant disables that are excellent for catching enemies. The main problem is that both heroes are greedy supports who need levels and often a Blink Dagger to have a major impact. In the laning stage, they offer very little kill threat or sustained pressure on their own, as they lack the damage to finish off opponents after using their spells.

This dependency on items and levels makes their early game fragile. If the lane goes well, often because of a strong core, they can transition into a powerful mid-game of pickoffs and teamfight control. But if they fall behind, the team can find itself with two under-farmed supports who are too fragile to contribute safely. The success of an Earthshaker and Rubick duo often hinges on how the first ten minutes unfold. They don't create their own momentum so much as they amplify their cores' ability to do so, making the pairing very dependent on the rest of the draft.
