Nature's Prophet + Witch Doctor

Why this works

Getting caught by a long-range Sprout and seeing a Witch Doctor appear feels like a death sentence. The setup for Maledict is there, but the follow-through is clumsy. Nature's Prophet's trees can easily block the path for a Paralyzing Cask bounce or get in the way of the Death Ward's line of sight. Since Sprout doesn't stun, a trapped hero can often use an item or escape ability before Witch Doctor can stack his damage. It looks scarier than it is because their lockdowns actively interfere with each other.

This disconnect gets worse as the game progresses. Witch Doctor wants his team grouped and ready to fight around his ultimate, looking for a big wombo combo. Nature's Prophet is one of the best heroes at playing the opposite style, constantly applying pressure to lanes far away from his team. The result is that Nature's Prophet is often split-pushing when Witch Doctor needs a front line or extra lockdown, and the Prophet is left without the potent teamfight backup that makes his global presence truly threatening. They fundamentally want to be in different places on the map.
