Landing Grimstroke's Soulbind sets up a devastating follow-up from Phantom Lancer. A single Spirit Lance hits both tethered targets, applying a powerful slow to two heroes and spawning an illusion next to each. This makes it almost impossible for them to separate or escape the initial burst. Grimstroke can then layer his other spells, like Phantom's Embrace, to double up on silence and damage while Phantom Lancer closes the distance. The core of this pairing is turning a single-target setup into a multi-hero lockdown that a carry like PL can easily clean up.

This duo pressures the map from the mid-game onward. Even without Soulbind, casting Ink Swell on Phantom Lancer as he uses Phantom Rush is a potent ganking tool, letting him arrive on a target with an area-of-effect stun. The constant threat of a double Spirit Lance slow forces opponents to play separated, which is exactly what Phantom Lancer wants.
