Gyrocopter + Skywrath Mage

Why this works

Pairing Gyrocopter and Skywrath Mage together creates a fundamental setup problem. Skywrath Mage needs a target held in place for Mystic Flare to land its full damage, but Gyrocopter offers very little help here. His Homing Missile stun is slow and easily destroyed before it connects. This means that without a third hero providing all the lockdown, their combined damage is unreliable. Their positioning also clashes; Gyrocopter wants to get on top of enemies for Rocket Barrage, while Skywrath needs to stay on the back lines, making it hard for them to focus the same target in a chaotic fight.

This lack of control becomes a serious liability as the game goes on. Mobile heroes can simply run away from the duo's damage, kiting Gyrocopter and walking out of Mystic Flare. It forces the team to draft a very specific initiator, making their strategy predictable. Against lineups with good saves, escapes, or spell immunity, both Gyrocopter and Skywrath Mage will find it incredibly difficult to secure kills. They have a ton of firepower but no good way to aim it at the same person at the same time.
