Why this works

Setting up kills with this pair is very straightforward. A target slowed by Phantom Lancer's Spirit Lance is a perfect victim for Hoodwink's Bushwhack, especially if they retreat towards the treeline. This provides a long, reliable stun that allows Phantom Lancer to Phantom Rush in and start generating illusions without the risk of being kited or disabled immediately. The combination turns a simple slow into a guaranteed kill setup, as Hoodwink can also add her own Acorn Shot slow to ensure the target has no chance of escape once the stun ends.

This dynamic gives the duo strong kill threat from the laning stage onwards, helping to secure the farm and space Phantom Lancer needs to come online. In the mid-game, they can effectively hunt for isolated targets, with Hoodwink providing the control for the illusion army to do its work. The enemy team’s main objective becomes trying to split the pair up, or bursting one of them before they can execute their combo. If Hoodwink can stay safe and find her stuns, she makes it much easier for her carry to take over the game.
