Huskar + Sand King

Why this works

Controlling the mid-game tempo with this pair can be awkward because both heroes often want to play a similar role. Sand King is looking to land a big Burrowstrike into Epicenter, while Huskar wants to find an isolated target for Life Break. The problem is that these two plans don't amplify each other as much as you'd think. Huskar already has his own way to get on top of a target, and what he really needs after he dives is defensive support or lockdown to survive at low health. Sand King provides another aggressive body, which can feel redundant and leaves the duo vulnerable to counter-initiation.

As a result, their teamfight plan is very all-in. A clean initiation from Sand King can certainly set up a quick kill for Huskar, but the combo has little staying power. If the enemy team weathers the initial burst, both heroes are left deep in enemy territory and are often easy to focus down. They lack the sustained control or saving abilities to reposition or survive a drawn-out engagement. This makes their fights extremely volatile; either they blow someone up instantly and snowball the fight, or they both die first and lose it on the spot.
