Why this works

Pairing these two heroes often creates a puzzle during the draft. Both Invoker and Shadow Fiend are traditionally tempo-setting cores that thrive on farm and solo experience to hit their timings. When they share a team, one of them is usually forced into a less comfortable role or position on the map. This can lead to a greedy composition that is vulnerable to early pressure, as neither hero offers the reliable lockdown needed to easily secure kills for the other in the first few minutes. Their individual power spikes are demanding and don't always line up neatly.

As a result, the game plan can feel disjointed. Both heroes want to occupy the same safe parts of the map to farm, which can starve each other and the rest of the team. A successful game with this duo relies on the enemy giving them the space they need to get their core items. While a perfectly executed combo like Tornado setting up for Requiem of Souls is strong, the opportunity is less frequent than you'd think. More commonly, the team struggles to create pressure until both heroes are individually ready to fight, which can often be too late.
