Kez + Magnus

Why this works

Drafting a carry to pair with Magnus usually means finding a hero who can abuse Empower and a big Reverse Polarity. Kez struggles on both fronts. As a duelist focused on winning one-on-one engagements, he gets far less out of cleave than a hero built for farming or teamfighting. His stance-swapping and parries are for outplaying a single opponent. When Magnus groups up the entire enemy team, Kez is still only hitting one person. This leaves a massive amount of damage potential on the table compared to what other carries could do with the same setup.

This disconnect becomes obvious in mid-game teamfights. Magnus can land a perfect ultimate, but Kez lacks the area damage to convert that opening into a won fight. He might be able to eliminate one hero during the stun, but the remaining enemies will recover and turn the tables. To make the pair work, your team is forced into a strange playstyle, often using a game-winning ultimate like Reverse Polarity to set up a single kill for Kez. It’s an inefficient use of resources that leaves both heroes unable to play to their own strengths.
