Kez + Mars

Why this works

Putting both Kez and Mars on a team often creates a core duo with conflicting goals. Mars excels at trapping multiple enemies with Arena of Blood, setting up for massive area damage. Kez, however, is a single-target duelist. His kit, with its stance-swapping and parries, is built to isolate and out-maneuver one opponent at a time. He doesn't bring the cleave, splash, or rapid target switching needed to capitalize on a multi-hero lockdown, which can make the big setup from Mars feel wasted.

In mid-game teamfights, this disconnect becomes obvious. Mars might land a perfect Arena, but Kez is forced to pick one target to duel inside it, leaving the other trapped enemies free to retaliate against him or his allies. This makes it easy for opponents to turn the fight by focusing Kez down, leaving Mars without a real damage carry to clean up. The pair lacks the combined output to win a brawl against a group, forcing the rest of their team to provide all the necessary area-of-effect damage to make the signature combo work.
