Kez + Shadow Shaman

Why this works

Choosing a support for Kez often comes down to deciding between setup and sustain. Shadow Shaman offers a straightforward lockdown package with Hex and Shackles, which in theory should give Kez a stationary target to unload on. The issue is one of tempo. Kez's dueling style relies on reactive parries and stance swaps to outplay an opponent, while Shadow Shaman's abilities are a very telegraphed, all-in commitment. If Kez isn't in the right stance or position to immediately follow up, the opportunity is often wasted, and both heroes can be left exposed for trying.

This disconnect plays out across the game. A well-coordinated gank in the laning stage can certainly work, but the setup is fragile. In larger mid-game fights, their goals can conflict. Shadow Shaman will try to lock down a high-priority hero, needing his team to follow up. Kez, however, may see a better opening for a duel on a different target at the edge of the fight. Their individual strengths don't always align on the same target at the same time, making their partnership feel less like a guaranteed plan and more like a gamble on perfect coordination.
