Why this works

Putting Kunkka and Lich in the same draft is a bet on landing a specific teamfight combo. The plan is to use Kunkka's Torrent or Ghostship to stun several enemies in a tight group. This creates the ideal setup for Lich to cast Chain Frost, maximizing its bounces between the locked-down targets for heavy damage. Lich can also use Sinister Gaze to hold an enemy in place, guaranteeing Kunkka's delayed spells connect. The entire concept revolves around this sequence of area-of-effect control leading into massive magic damage.

In a real game, this pairing's effectiveness is tied directly to those ultimate cooldowns. While Frost Shield is useful for helping Kunkka trade hits or survive being focused, the duo doesn't have overwhelming chemistry outside of their big combo. Their impact feels inconsistent until both ultimates are ready for a fight. Aware opponents will play around this by spreading out, baiting one of the key spells, or simply forcing fights when the combo isn't available. This makes their joint success very conditional on timing and execution, leading to an unreliable outcome.
