Legion Commander + Tinker

Why this works

Winning a Duel requires a quick burst of damage to secure the kill, but Tinker's kit doesn't really offer that. He brings a lot of sustained magic damage, not the heavy, front-loaded nuke or stun that helps Legion Commander guarantee a victory. While his Laser can add some damage and cause a miss, it isn't the kind of high-impact spell that turns a close Duel into a sure thing. His other abilities are better at clearing waves and dealing area damage, which isn't very helpful for focusing down the single hero that Legion Commander has locked in place.

Across the game, this pair often feels like they're playing on different maps. Legion Commander wants to group up with her team to find pickoffs and build her Duel damage, but Tinker is almost always split-pushing lanes by himself. He can teleport to a fight, but he's not there to help set up the initial catch. This leaves Legion Commander to rely on other allies or her own strength to win Duels. The core game plans of a ganking initiator and a global split-pusher rarely align, so they don't build momentum together.
