Why this works

Committing to a magic burst strategy with these two heroes means relying on Pugna's Decrepify to amplify Lich's damage. A Decrepified target melts to Chain Frost, turning the ultimate into a focused kill tool rather than just chaos. The constant slows from Lich’s Frost Blast and Frost Shield also give Pugna the space he needs to land a key Nether Blast or fully channel his Life Drain on a high-priority enemy. This creates a clear offensive pattern for the lane and early teamfights.

This pairing's success depends heavily on tempo. They need to secure kills and objectives before opponents can itemize against them. Since both Lich and Pugna are quite fragile and susceptible to silences or stuns, strong initiation from the enemy team can shut them down completely. An early Pipe of Insight or a few Black King Bars can neutralize their main strength, forcing them to play reactively. The game often becomes a race to execute their combo before the enemy team finds the tools to survive it.
