Why this works

Controlling a lane against this pair can be frustrating. Lich's Frost Blast gives Techies an easy setup for landing Sticky Bomb, layering slows and damage that are difficult to trade against. If an opponent tries to commit to a fight, Lich can use Frost Shield to protect an ally, punishing the attacker and creating space. This constant pressure makes it hard for enemies to secure last hits or find a favorable engagement, as every step forward can be met with a punishing combination of spells.

Later in the game, the synergy shifts to area control and lockdown. A successful Sinister Gaze from Lich can hold an enemy in place for a delayed Blast Off! or for an armed Proximity Mine to detonate. The threat of Chain Frost also forces enemy teams to scatter, potentially into minefields Techies has prepared. However, the combo relies heavily on landing these initial spells and can be vulnerable if caught out of position. Opponents with good vision and mobility can often play around their setups, looking for picks before a big teamfight can break out.
