Lich + Ursa

Why this works

Securing an early Roshan is a core part of Ursa’s game plan, but Lich offers almost no help with it. Ursa needs to hit this timing to create map pressure, and without a support who can tank or sustain him, the attempt is much riskier. In fights, the synergy looks better on paper than it is in practice. While Frost Shield is a solid defensive buff for a frontliner, Lich’s only hard disable is Sinister Gaze. This channeling spell forces Lich to stand still, preventing him from repositioning or using other spells to protect an all-in Ursa from the enemy team's response.

The laning stage is often strong, with slows and harass creating space for Ursa to farm. The problem is converting this into mid-game map control. An enabled Ursa wants to force fights and rotate between objectives, but Lich's kit is better suited for slower, more defensive engagements and kiting enemies. The result is a pairing that doesn't have a unified plan. Ursa tries to play his high-tempo game without the dedicated support he needs, while Lich plays his own game, leading to fights where they feel disconnected from one another.
