Lich + Windranger

Why this works

Setting up a Shackleshot with this combo can be a bit awkward. Lich offers slows with Frost Blast and a channeled disable with Sinister Gaze, both of which can help Windranger find her angle. The problem is that the slow isn't a hard lockdown, and while Sinister Gaze holds a target, it also holds Lich in place, preventing him from positioning for his own Chain Frost. Frost Shield is a decent defensive spell for any core, but the offensive parts of their kits don't create a clean sequence. They provide tools that can work together, but it rarely feels like a perfect setup.

During the lane, the pair can create pressure, but they often lack the lockdown needed to secure kills against mobile opponents. Later on, their game plans can diverge. Windranger wants to find solo pickoffs with Focus Fire, a situation where Lich’s teamfight ultimate feels underutilized. In full five-on-five engagements, Lich is looking for clumped enemies to hit with his ultimate, while Windranger is often on the edge of the fight picking off a key target. It ends up feeling like two heroes playing their own game on the same team, rather than amplifying each other's strengths.
