Why this works

Pairing a big disable with a burst-damage core often works, but this duo has a specific conflict. Winter Wyvern's ultimate, Winter's Curse, makes the primary target immune to damage from your team. This means Lina cannot unload Light Strike Array and Laguna Blade on the very target Wyvern locked down. The setup is actually for the *enemy team* to kill their own ally. While Wyvern’s slows can help Lina land stuns outside of the ultimate, the signature abilities of these two heroes actively work against each other during their most important moments, creating a combo that is much less straightforward than it appears.

Executing this lane requires a lot of coordination to avoid wasting spells. The ideal teamfight involves Winter Wyvern using Curse on a low-priority hero while Lina nukes the real threat, or Lina having to wait until Curse ends, which gives the enemy time to react. On the defensive side, Cold Embrace can be a life-saver for a fragile Lina caught by physical attackers, but it also prevents her from casting, briefly taking her damage out of the fight. Because their strongest spells clash, the success of Lina and Winter Wyvern together depends more on fundamental play than on any powerful combo.
