Lion + Magnus

Why this works

Setting up chain-stuns with Reverse Polarity looks good on paper, but the impact is often redundant. Magnus already provides a long-duration stun on everyone he catches. Lion can then follow up with Hex and Earth Spike on a single hero, but that target was already locked down. The core issue is that Lion brings single-target burst to a multi-hero setup. While he can guarantee a kill on one enemy caught in the ultimate, he doesn't offer the area-of-effect damage that really capitalizes on clumping up the entire enemy team. His contribution doesn't scale with how many heroes Magnus catches.

Across the game, this means the duo's success relies heavily on the rest of the team. Magnus will always be looking for a different ally to give Empower to, as Lion gets no benefit from the cleave or bonus damage. When teamfights break out, Lion does his job and deletes one person, but it often feels disconnected from Magnus’s main plan. The result is a pairing that functions but doesn't truly click. They don't get in each other's way, but they also don't amplify what the other wants to do, leading to a very neutral performance.
