Magnus + Marci

Why this works

Pairing these two melee initiators can sometimes feel awkward in practice. The core of the issue is that their kits don't always align. Magnus wants to pull enemies together with Reverse Polarity, creating a perfect target for area-of-effect damage. Marci, on the other hand, excels at isolating a single enemy with Dispose and bursting them down with Unleash. While Empower on a Marci provides a nice damage boost, her single-target focus doesn't fully capitalize on the multi-hero setup that Reverse Polarity is designed for. She wants to throw people, while Magnus wants them to stay put.

This slight clash of game plans plays out across the map. Both heroes want to be the one to start a fight, which can lead to them stepping on each other's toes for positioning. A good Reverse Polarity is a fight-winning spell, but Marci's contribution during its duration is often less impactful than that of a hero with huge AoE nukes or cleaving attacks. Outside of big teamfights, their pick-off attempts can also be disjointed, as one hero's displacement ability might move a target in a way that foils the other's plan. The combo isn't actively bad, but it lacks the clean execution that makes for a truly powerful duo.
