Magnus + Nyx Assassin

Why this works

Setting up a gank with both heroes can work out. Nyx Assassin can scout ahead with Vendetta to find an isolated target, which lets Magnus know exactly where to commit for a Skewer or Reverse Polarity. A successful RP also groups enemies perfectly for a multi-hero Impale, adding a solid layer of control to a teamfight. This is mostly a case of one stun setting up another, though, which many hero pairings can accomplish. The setup from Nyx doesn't fundamentally change how Magnus has to find and execute his own initiation; it mostly confirms the target.

Across the game, these two can feel like they're operating on separate plans that happen to overlap. Magnus is always looking for a core who can maximize his Empower buff to accelerate farm and cleave through teamfights, and Nyx Assassin simply isn't that hero. While Nyx is focused on finding solo pickoffs and bursting supports, Magnus is playing for a game-changing ultimate. Their abilities don't conflict, but they don't directly amplify each other either. The success of the duo often depends more on whether Magnus lands a good ultimate on his own, with Nyx providing fairly standard follow-up.
