Magnus + Slardar

Why this works

A big teamfight combo is the main idea here. Magnus can pull several enemies together with Reverse Polarity, which sets Slardar up to apply Corrosive Haze and Slithereen Crush to the whole group. Giving Slardar an Empower also lets his cleaving attacks hit multiple armor-reduced targets at once. The issue is that both heroes often want to fill the same role as the primary Blink Dagger initiator, which can create some redundancy. Their damage is also heavily physical, making it easier for enemies to itemize against with armor or Ghost Scepters.

For this duo to work, the game plan is straightforward: find the perfect Reverse Polarity. When it lands, the follow-up from Slardar is often enough to secure key kills and win the fight. The problem is getting there. Smart opponents will play spread out, forcing Magnus and Slardar to initiate on single targets where their combo is less effective. This forces them to play more like two separate initiators rather than a cohesive unit, which explains why their combined impact can feel inconsistent from game to game.
