Magnus + Troll Warlord

Why this works

Getting caught by Reverse Polarity is already a problem, but having a Troll Warlord waiting at the destination makes survival unlikely. Magnus groups enemies up, and Empower gives Troll the cleave he lacks to hit them all at once. During Battle Trance, Troll is locked onto a single target, so Magnus pulling multiple heroes into his melee range is a significant damage boost. This provides Troll a way to deal with clumped-up teams, something his base kit can otherwise struggle with when he's stuck in melee form.

The execution isn't always simple, though. The entire mid-game can hinge on Magnus landing a good ultimate, which has a long cooldown. If the enemy team plays spread out or holds spells specifically for Magnus's Blink initiation, Troll is often left to fight on his own terms. While Empower helps Troll Warlord farm much faster and hit harder, he's a hero who can already find his own kills once he has a few items. The pairing is effective when the setup works, but it doesn't fundamentally change how either hero wants to play, leading to a fairly standard result.
