Mars + Pudge

Why this works

Putting these two heroes on the same team often creates a farm and space problem. Both Mars and Pudge are melee initiators who want to hit a critical timing with a Blink Dagger. They end up competing for the same safe areas of the map to get there, slowing both of them down. Their kits can also work against each other. Arena of Blood traps enemies for a contained fight, while Meat Hook excels at pulling one target out of position. Pudge can't easily hook a key enemy *into* the Arena, and hooking someone *out* of it often defeats the purpose of Mars's ultimate.

This resource conflict delays their key items, giving the enemy team more room to breathe and take objectives. In fights, the combo is awkward. Mars provides the control with his Arena, but he lacks the damage to kill multiple targets on his own. Pudge offers a single-target lockdown with Dismember, but this doesn't solve the area damage problem Mars faces. Without a third hero to provide heavy burst, their initiations can feel ineffective, leaving enemies to escape after the spells wear off.
