Mars + Undying

Why this works

Fighting inside an Arena of Blood with this duo can be awkward. Mars wants to lock targets down for his team to focus, but Undying's Tombstone is most effective when it has space to spawn zombies that chase enemies down. If the Tombstone is dropped inside the Arena, the zombies have nowhere to run and get cleared out immediately. If it's dropped outside, it can't affect the primary targets Mars has trapped. Their biggest teamfight spells actively work against each other's ideal scenarios, forcing a compromise that helps neither hero fully.

This pairing can look strong in lane, where Undying wears opponents down with Decay to set up an easy Spear of Mars. The trouble starts in mid-game teamfights. Mars is looking for a clean initiation, trapping key heroes away from their team. Undying, however, wants a chaotic, drawn-out brawl where Flesh Golem and his zombies can grind the whole enemy team down over a wide area. The game becomes a tug-of-war over what kind of fight to take, and success often depends on which hero gets to set the tempo.
