Why this works

Taking an objective with Mass Serpent Wards becomes a little more reliable when Ogre Magi is on the team. Bloodlust can be cast on the wards, speeding up their attacks and helping to melt a tower or secure Roshan. This duo also offers a straightforward lockdown chain for ganks. Ogre Magi’s Fireblast provides the instant stun needed for Shadow Shaman to safely begin channeling Shackles, holding a single target in place for a long time. This gives the team a simple and effective way to initiate a pickoff.

This pairing encourages a direct game plan of finding kills and converting them into towers. In the laning stage, their combined disables can create kill threat on their own. Later, their role is to set up kills for their cores and then accelerate the push. The synergy isn't overwhelming because both heroes are often played as supports and can be vulnerable themselves. If the team's damage dealers aren't nearby to capitalize on the lockdown, or if the enemy team can split them up, the advantage from their spell combination fades quickly.
