Pangolier + Tusk

Why this works

Pairing two aggressive initiators looks good on paper, but their core abilities often work against each other. Tusk wants to trap and isolate a target with Ice Shards, creating a static arena for his team to pour damage into. Pangolier, however, needs space for Rolling Thunder to bounce around and stun multiple enemies unpredictably. Tusk's shards can prematurely stop a roll, while Pangolier's roll can easily knock enemies out of the shard trap, effectively saving them. Their primary spells are designed for opposite kinds of battlefield control, leading to frequent interference.

This clash of styles makes teamfights feel clumsy. Instead of a clean setup, one hero often has to hold their spell or risk ruining the other's play. A good Snowball initiation can be spoiled when Rolling Thunder knocks the target away before Tusk and his allies can connect. Enemies quickly learn they can survive by spreading out, as the duo struggles to coordinate focus fire. This forces both Pangolier and Tusk to execute their plans solo, which is rarely enough against a coordinated team.
