Pangolier + Witch Doctor

Why this works

Relying on this pair for teamfight control can be a gamble. Witch Doctor needs enemies held in place to get the most out of Death Ward, but Pangolier’s Rolling Thunder is all about chaotic movement and displacement. While the initial stun from the roll can provide a window to cast the ultimate, the continuous bouncing and knockback often pushes enemies out of the ward's attack range. This creates a difficult timing challenge where the two signature spells can easily work against each other, even when used with good intentions.

In practice, a successful combination requires the Pangolier to be very precise, either trapping heroes against terrain or ending his roll early within the ward's radius. More often, fights become disjointed. Pangolier might create an opening, but Witch Doctor has to hold his ultimate, waiting for a better setup that never comes. Conversely, an early Death Ward can get no value because Pangolier immediately rolls through and scatters all the targets. The lack of a simple, reliable lockdown means they often operate on different wavelengths during critical moments.
